About the Event:

Usaravalli is a Kannada turncoat event where participants speak on a given topic and switch their stance midway from supporting it to opposing it without stopping or breaking flow! It’s a real test of clarity, confidence, and control when the script suddenly flips. If you can sell both sides without missing a beat, this is your challenge!

Event Details:

Round 1:

1. The topic will be disclosed in the event hall, and participants will be given 10 minutes to prepare before the competition begins.
2. Each participant has 4 minutes to speak, of which 2 minutes are allocated for presenting arguments in opposition.

Round 2:

1. In this round, participants will select a topic on the spot and will be allotted 2 minutes for preparation.
2. Each participant will have 4 minutes to speak. Upon the ringing of the bell, they must switch their stance to present a different perspective on the topic.

Rules and Regulations:

1. Individual participation.
2. Participants must present a physical college ID card and PID to participate in the event.
3. Only Kannada is allowed; use of any other language is prohibited.
4. The content must not be offensive towards any religion, caste, gender, or community. Violations may lead to disqualification by the organisers.
5. Each speech, including both stances, must be completed within the allocated 4 minutes.
6. Participants will have 10 minutes to prepare after receiving the topic.
7. The decisions made by the judges and the organisers are final and binding.

Judging Criteria:

• Content of speech.
• Smoothness of transition between stances.
• Language.
• Voice modulation and articulation.
• Physical presence such as eye contact, body language, etc.
