About the Event:

Lights, Camera, Drama! The spotlight is yours. Navarasa is a celebration of theatre where stories come alive and emotions take centre stage. From tragedy to comedy, and from timeless classics to powerful new narratives, performers explore the full depth of human emotion. Whether inspired by Kalidasa or driven by original storytelling, this is your moment to shine. Bring your passion, your story, and your creativity to the stage where emotions flow and stories soar under the lights.

Event Details:

Theme: Mukhavada or Ahankara

Round 1: Online Screening Round

  1. Participants must record their performance and upload it to Google Drive. The link of which must be shared via email to naxxxxxxxxxxxxxea@gmail.com under the subject "Navarasa Online Screening Submission".
  2. The video should be a 3-5 minute sample of the team’s performance, and it can be from any portion of the performance.
  3. Submission of edited videos is not allowed. The video must be shot in one continuous take.
  4. The deadline for submission of the video is - 28 February 2026.
  5. Kindly note that only recent recordings are accepted; the submission of old recordings is not permitted.
  6. A maximum of 9 teams will be selected from the online screening round and will proceed to the final round.

Note: All the rules of the final round apply to the online screening round as well.

Round 2: Final Round

  1. The act must strictly adhere to the theme.
  2. Each team will be allotted a total time of 15 minutes to cover stage setup, performance, and clearance.
  3. Each team may comprise 9+6 members. A maximum of 9 actors can be present on stage and a maximum of 6 members can be part of the stage support team (i.e., musicians, stage setup team, etc.).
  4. A performance could be done in any of these languages - Kannada, Hindi, Tulu, or English.
  5. Use of pre-recorded audio on stage is permitted only with prior approval from the organisers.
  6. Props may be brought and used.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A team can comprise of 9+6 members. A maximum of 9 actors can be present on stage, and a maximum of 6 members can be part of the stage support team (i.e., musicians, stage setup team, etc.).
  2. All the team members must be from the same college.
  3. Participants must present a physical college ID card and PID to participate in the event.
  4. Targeting a specific religion, political party, personality, and use of foul language will lead to direct disqualification.
  5. Originality in scripting should be given the utmost priority. The implication of the theme is based on your creative perception.
  6. Improper use of theme or omission of the theme from the performance will result in a deduction in score or direct disqualification.
  7. The decisions of the judges and the organisers are final and binding.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Acting.
  2. Topic and creativity.
  3. Usage of properties.
  4. Stage presence.
